The Yankee Classic, five days of all-breed conformation obedience and rally, is held annually in July at the Better Living Center in West Springfield, MA. Hartford Obedience Training Club members provided Obedience stewards for the Farmington Valley Kennel Club on Saturday, July 10, 2010.
The 1st Company Governor’s Foot Guard sponsored their first Canine Good Citizen testing on Sunday January 24, 2010 at their Armory in Hartford with Lorrie Moule as the AKC evaluator and Martha Bailey of Smartydog, Diane Connelly of Hartford Obedience Training Club and members of the 1st Company acting as stewards in the exercises.
Exhibitors signed a Responsible Dog Ownership Pledge and then proceeded with the test comprised of 10 stations, all geared to show that their dog was capable of behaving appropriately in situations and exhibiting good manners at all times. Greeting a friendly stranger, being groomed, walking in a crowd, not reacting to a jogger and willingly staying with a stranger as their owner left the area were only several of the tests they had to pass to earn the coveted CGC after their name
